Product update
A home for ReelBase on the web: what the product does today, how it's set up, and how to request a demo — in English and Spanish.
Tutorial
Build a selects list in ReelBase, export it, and open it in Resolve or Premiere with every clip linked to your original media.
Guide
The four pieces of a ReelBase setup — your storage, the ingest agent, the web app and your editing software — and the steps to connect them.
We're preparing short video walkthroughs. Every video will be published with captions and a full transcript in English and Spanish.
Answers about storage, AI, editing software, security and pricing.
On your own storage — your NAS or drives. ReelBase never uploads your original files. A small ingest agent on your network reads them in place, creates lightweight previews, and sends only those previews and the clip's metadata to the ReelBase server. When you export to your editing software, the timeline points back to the originals on your storage.
This website is fully available in English and Spanish, and you can ask for your demo in Spanish. The ReelBase application itself is currently in English only.
No. AI is optional, and you can switch it on or off per clip and per ingest batch. Keyword search, tags, notes, lists, review and export all work without it. Settings shows an estimate of AI cost before you commit.
When you turn AI on, these providers process the data needed for each feature:
AI-generated tags are kept separate from the tags your team adds by hand. Original files are never sent.
No. You send a private review link, optionally protected with a passcode and an expiry date. Your client can play the cut, leave comments tied to the exact timecode, draw on the frame, and mark it Approved or Needs changes. Your team replies in threads and marks notes as resolved. With the DaVinci Resolve panel, the notes can be added to your timeline as markers.
Only lightweight previews and metadata:
Original camera files stay on your storage.
See our Security page for more, or ask for a technical deep-dive demo.
ReelBase follows your storage. If a file disappears from a watched folder and isn't found anywhere else ReelBase watches, it's flagged as missing and, after a 24-hour grace period, ReelBase deletes only its own copies (the proxy and catalog entry). It never touches your source files, and drives that are offline are skipped.
To remove a whole workspace's data, your workspace admin can contact us. For personal information collected by this website, use our privacy request form.
We quote each team individually for now. Pricing depends on the size of your team, how much footage you keep in ReelBase (proxy storage), how many locations or ingest agents you run, and whether you use the optional AI features. There's no self-serve checkout: request a demo or contact us and we'll send a quote.
ReelBase hands off to Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. You can export a selects list or rough cut as FCPXML (for Resolve), FCP7 XML (for Premiere Pro) or a CMX3600 EDL, or download a .zip of proxies for offline editing. There's also a DaVinci Resolve panel (requires Resolve Studio) and a Premiere Pro panel, which is currently unsigned and installs in debug mode.
For footage, the ingest agent uses FFmpeg, so it handles the formats FFmpeg can decode — including common camera and delivery formats such as H.264, H.265/HEVC, ProRes and DNxHD/DNxHR. Some proprietary raw formats can't be decoded; tell us what your cameras record and we'll confirm during a demo. AAF and OTIO export are on the roadmap.
A macOS and Linux agent is on the roadmap.
The app has its own Help page — open it from the top bar after you sign in. It covers every tab and setting step by step (in English).
Sign in to ReelBaseBook a walkthrough and we'll show you how ReelBase would fit your storage, your team and your editing tools — no slides, just the product.
